I would have liked to give a rating of 3. I thought I was too critical in the review and flipped through the book again. Karna’s abominable role outcassts the dice-game often acts as a primary reason for many people to dislike him.
The climax of this book left me with a lump in my throat. And one can’t help comparing it to the ‘Palace of Illusions’ the view from Draupadi’s eyes Also, it was despicable th Tbe.
Flipkart Official Review A lot has been written on the Mahabharata. Some of the scenes as well as the moments literally brought tears to your eyes.
Karna is so enigmatic, so brilliant and yet so misunderstood. The book was an interesting read, but I was disappointed by the fact that Uruvi is a fictional character and does not exist in kranas Mahabharata at all: A classic retelling which narrates the events of Mahabharata with great detail and different perspective.
A woman who was lost in her own love story and blind to the world and her husband’s fault till it was too tge. Her stand that helps prevents the possible next Mahabharat between these two cousins or their offspring was what made me really really love this book.

It is his story. The reason why this book is a bestseller is because it is written on Karna, one of karna most favourite characters of the epic in public minds.

Many of us perhaps know little or nothing about Karna’s wives, family life and children. I have not read the original and Panicker stresses that his is hte a translation, but you can see the author make an effort to actually narrate a story from Bhima’s perspective.

And then of course Karna. Draupadi was wronged, Uruvi wasn’t. When Karna confessed his love for Draupati to Uruvi, I found pangs of jealousy in me.
